Special Notes:

They are not using ChexSystems at all and will approve anyone. It has been reported that as long as you do now them any money that they will approve you. Anyone living in MN can get an account here.

Email from person that got an account:

Wanted to let you know that Gate City Bank in North Dakota and Minnesota have opened the doors wide open. They used to be a strict ChexSystems institution, but recently they dropped their affiliation with ChexSystems and are accepting anyone. Of course it is preferred that you be a Minnesota or North Dakota resident (although I know of no policy where they would not open an account to someone from another state). All they did was run our drivers license and Social Security numbers through their system and we were approved just like that!! I'm sure the typical advice would apply. You must not owe Gate City any money.

Email from Bank:

In response to your message, we use a program called ChoicePoint to verify new account customers.

U.S. Bank

Form of Verification: ChexSystems

Special Notes:

It has been reported that if your report is 21/2 yrs or older, they will not even see it. If this is your situation you can apply online, if not, you would need to visit an “in store” branch.

Most US banks “in store” branches are giving accounts to most people on ChexSystems. These are regular accounts, not 2nd chance checking...as long as you do NOT owe US Bank money and you are not reported on your ChexSystems report for any kind of "fraudulent activity".

There are some branches that are still not using this policy so it might be a good idea to call a branch local to you and ask about their policy first before going in.

Some “in store” branches have signs that actually says “ChexSystems? no problem!”… yet others will not open accounts at all. People are approved everyday.

Some branches do offer 2nd chance checking and some have been able to open business accounts when all debt to reporting bank(s) are paid and fraud is not indicated.

Types of Accounts Offered: Personal checking, savings and business accounts

There is not a minimum score. We look at the over-all history. For example: if you are interested in opening a checking account — are there chargeoffs/collections for NSF checks that haven’t been paid? If there are unpaid accounts-we may not open a checking but would consider a savings account to get started. Are there positive “lines of credit”? How about recent Bankruptcy, etc. Usually we will start a savings and then determine the eligibility for checking/debit card from the credit report.

I know that is a somewhat vague answer but we try see that everyone’s situation is a little different and that not everyone is a cookie cutter.
